FACILITIES & EQUIPMENT

The school is over 5000 square feet and is fully air conditioned.  It has a reception area, grooming rooms, and a separate bathing and drying area.  We also have state of the art equipment such as a Clipper-Vac and automated bathing system.  Additionally a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker are furnished for the students added convenience.

ADMISSION

REQUIREMENTS

Any person who is over sixteen years of age, who is healthy and exhibits a love for dogs is eligible to enroll in Critter Clips School of Dog Grooming.

PROCEDURE

A signed contract and payment agreement must be completed prior to your assigned starting date.  Early registration is encouraged to assure you a place in the class date desired.

Critter Clips School of Dog Grooming admits students of any race, color, creed, or sex without regard to national or ethnic origin.  Every student is entitled to all the rights, privileges and programs (generally accorded or made available at the school).

COURSE INFORMATION

ALL BREED PET GROOMING - 450 Clock Hours

Full Time - 16 weeks
Part Time - determined by student's availability during hours of operation

A flexible schedule is available based on the schools standard operational hours.  A schedule must be approved by the director prior to the start of classes.

CURRICULUM

DOG CARE & GROOMING DIPLOMA
Estimated program length is 4 months when attending full time.

INTRODUCTION TO DOG CARE & GROOMING
Teach students about all dog breeds.  Safe handling of both dogs and grooming equipment is also taught.  30 hours

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Teach students the dog grooming business and pet care profession.  8 hours

EQUIPMENT CARE
Teach students how to care for their clippers and maintain their blades and scissors.  Also the importance of sanitation and sterilization.  3 hours

DOG BATHING & DRYING
Learn all aspects of bathing and drying all dog breeds. 44 hours

BEGINNING DOG CLIPPING
Teach students safe dog handling when using clippers and how and when to use different clipper blades.  82 hours

SCISSORING TECHNIQUES
Teach students the art of fine scissoring for fancy breeds along with mastering speed-scissoring. 173 hours

MASTERING SPEED TECHNIQUES
Teach students maximum speed techniques in an organized way utilizing the correct tools and equipment. 110 hours

ATTENDANCE POLICY

To receive the maximum benefit from our grooming program, attendance and punctuality must be consistent.  If a student cannot attend a class, notification should be made by phone to the school office as soon as possible.  More than 20% of an individual's hours missed per month is considered a violation of the attendance policy and a student may be placed on probation.  Tow consecutive violations could result in a dismissal at the discretion of the Director.  An additional charge of $7.75 per hour may be charged to students who are more than 20% over their completion date or need additional hours to acquire a diploma.

PLACEMENT

Critter Clips School of Dog Grooming does not assist nor guarantee placement, however, we maintain contacts with professionals in related businesses and keep track of job openings for our graduates.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Students must ask for a Leave of Absence in writing and it must be approved by the School Director.  A Leave of Absence may be granted for up to sixty days due to illness or personal reasons.  When returning to course, students will receive full credit for their hours (recessive), grades and requirements.

CONDUCT POLICY

A student who does not respect the regulations and policies of the school or who disrupts the regular function of the school will be on probation for two weeks.  Continued disrespect of the regulations and policies by a student makes them a candidate for dismissal.  A meeting of the Director, instructor and student is conducted before any action for dismissal is taken.  Re-admittance is under the consideration of the Director.  A student readmitted will be on probation for three weeks.  Personal calls are not allowed during class time except in cases of emergency.  For the prevention of fire and the health of animals, smoking is not allowed.

Students must be making satisfactory progress or be above a 70% average to stay in school.  Students will be graded quarterly and at that time, if a student is not passing or has attained an incomplete, he/she will be put on probation.  During the probation period the student must bring their average up or make up the incomplete.  If the discrepancy is not corrected, the student may be subject to suspension or dismissal at the discretion of the Director.

CALENDAR

Classes begin the 1st Tuesday of every month and students will receive hands-on training beginning the first week.  There will be full and part-time day classes.

Full Time:  Thirty-two hours per week, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday with one hour for lunch.

Part Time:  Flexible.  Students are offered a variation of hours based on schools operational hours.

SCHEDULE OF HOLIDAYS -- Critter Clips School Of Dog Grooming will be closed on New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students must complete all Critter Clips School Of Dog Grooming course requirements with a 70% or above average.  Upon course completion, students will receive a diploma certifying they have met these requirements.

TUITION

Effective July 1, 2003 the cost of the course will be $4000.00 with a $500.00 deposit to lock in your class space.  A payment of $1750.00 is then due upon the beginning of class.  The remaining $1750.00 will be due in 2 equal installments of $875.00 due upon your 200 and 300 hour marks, respectively.

SUPPLIES:  Students will be provided with an Oster & Andis Corporation supply kit which is included in the tuition.  The kit includes all necessary tools to complete the course requirements.

TEXT:  All Breed Dog Grooming Book, Authors -- Sam Kohl and Catherine Goldstein, published by Prentice Hall Press.  Text is included in the tuition fee.

PREVIOUS TRAINING

School records will show previous training and they will clearly indicate what credits the school has given.  The training period will be shortened proportionately.  Critter Clips School Of Dog Grooming does not guarantee transferability of its credits to another institution unless there is a written agreement with that institution.

REFUND POLICY

Students not accepted by the school and students who cancel this contract by notifying the school within three business days are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid.  Students who withdraw after three business days, but before commencement of classes, are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid except the cancellation fee of $150.00, (not to exceed $150.00 or twenty-five percent of the contract price, whichever is less).  In the case of students withdrawing after commencement of classes, the school will retain a percentage of contract hours attended as described in the table below.  The refund is based on last date of recorded attendance.  Transfer of credits will not affect the Refund Policy.

REFUND TABLE

Student is entitled to the following upon withdrawal/termination:

The student may cancel this contract at any time prior to close on the third business day after signing this contract.

The official date of termination for refund purposes is the last date of recorded attendance.  All refunds will be made within 30 days from the date of termination.  The student will receive a full refund of tuition and fees paid if the school discontinues a course/program within a period  of time a student could have reasonably completed it, except that this provision shall not apply in the event the school ceases operation.  Complaints, which cannot be resolved by direct negotiation between the student and the school, may be filed with the Division of Private Occupational Schools, Colorado Department of Higher Education.  There is a two-year limitation on the Division taking action on student complaints.  The Division shall not consider any claim that is filed more than two years after the date the student discontinues his/her training at the school.
